You know how firefighters and rescue workers are seen as heroes in our communities, yet they aren’t paid like one? And with most of them working some variation of 24 hours on and 48 hours off, getting a side job that works with those off-duty hours is tough. So, they either find one of the few service jobs that accommodates this uncommon schedule, or they start a side business and face the additional challenges of launching and keeping that ship afloat. 

At Off Duty Rescue, we believe heroes in our communities shouldn’t have to worry about how they’re going to put food on the table, keep a roof over their family’s head or pay for their child’s college education. We recognized very quickly that many EMS, law enforcement, military personnel, and veterans are in the same boat. So, it is our mission to connect communities with business services provided by off-duty heroes to increase their household incomes. Off Duty Rescue can do this by attacking the problem in two ways:

• 1. The first is to directly hire off-duty heroes. We have identified several key services as having a high return on investment due to lower overhead. This allows us to pay higher wages than most organizations. Our first division is an algae treatment service for residential and commercial roofs and external surfaces. Have you ever noticed the black streaks and nasty discoloration that usually forms on the north side of a roof or outside wall? By giving them a well-paid side job cleaning this algae from the roofs of homes and businesses:

     • 1. • We get highly skilled workers

          • Properties in the community look better

          • Property values and real estate offers can increase

          • These heroes can double their yearly income working part-time on their days off

          • It keeps a roof over their heads and feeds their families

  2. The second way will tap into an already existing business network that has grown out of the need to supplement income. A large percentage of firefighters and rescue workers own businesses. As we develop a platform for listing the companies owned by these community service heroes (and their spouses) we will open a doorway for the community to show their support to these families. It becomes a resource the community can use when they need a handyman, lawn care, or even a marketing or IT professional.

Giving Back

In addition to hiring these heroes and helping their businesses, Off Duty Rescue uses a portion of our proceeds to give rescue equipment to the emergency teams in the communities where they serve, helping them to save lives and rescue more than just a roof.

Off Duty Rescue's mission is to connect communities with business services provided by off-duty firefighters, EMS, law enforcement, military personnel, and veterans. We do this to increase the household income of every community service hero and use a portion of the proceeds to give rescue equipment to local departments in the communities where they serve. We help them rescue more than just a roof, lawn, home project, or whatever problem their business solves. We help them live so they can save lives.
